The idea of writing this book was initiated following a conversation about the ever-diminishing number of elderly Nether Wallopians

with their invaluable memories of the people, events and places in the village. Dorothy Beresford, our late historian, had wanted

someone to write a more detailed version of her short book, Nether Wallop in Hampshire (which can be purchased from St Andrew's Church),

and I agreed to do so, on the condition that all the proceeds would be donated to the building of the new Nether Wallop Village Hall

Appropriately, this is taking place exactly 100 years after the original Hall was built, and for which preparations are well under way.

WHO were The Wallop Arabs?

WHAT was the connection with one of the richest commoners in England?

WHY did the Prince of Wales, later to become King Edward Vll, often visit Nether Wallop?

WHEN did Nether Wallop have a Town Hall?

WHERE was Leonard’s Grave?

The answers will be revealed along with many other facts, stories, descriptions and memories in Behind The Scenes - cost £10.

Copies can be bought, or sent by post ( plus p.&p.), from me at The Old Farmhouse, Bent Street, Nether Wallop, Hants  SO20 8EJ

or by telephoning 01264 781932.

Please do tell all your friends who no longer live in the village about the book and how to buy a copy, as every book sale is valuable.
